Interactive Map to Preserve the Integrity of the St. Lawrence

In 2023, this project made it possible to create an interactive map for the general public. It lists all the accessible sites along the coastline of the Haute-Côte-Nord and Manicouagan MRCs, from Sacré-Coeur to Baie-Trinité. This map identifies the location of hiking trails, boat launches, lookouts, observation sites, sport fishing sites, and several other places of interest to residents and travelers. This work was carried out with the participation of coastal municipalities as well as Innu communities. The objective of this project is to encourage citizens and travelers to use the infrastructures already in place in order to avoid human pressure in fragile areas along the coastline (wildlife habitats, heronries, wetlands, etc.).

This project is possible thanks to the Maritime Affluents Program administered by the Saint-Laurent Action Fund (FASL) and coordinated by the Regroupement des organismes de bassins versants du Québec (ROBVQ), as well as to the financial support of the Government of Quebec as part of Avantage Saint-Laurent, the new provincial maritime vision. The Quebec Wildlife Foundation's Act for Wildlife program also financially supported this project. We would also like to highlight the participation of Côte-Nord Tourism and Matrivex Geospatial in the realization of this project.
