Sediment and Invertebrate Sampling for Trophic Benthic Ecology Near the Nain Continental Shelf (Labrador Sea), 2019

Bulk and amino acid-specific stable isotope analyses, and morphological taxonomy will be the primary methods used for this project. Isotope analyses of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), hydrogen (H), and sulfur (S) will provide information on trophic interactions. Species richness and abundances will be used in biodiversity calculations. Sediment properties such as grain size and porosity will provide information on community structure and functioning. Phytopigment content will enhance knowledge of productivity at each location. Organisms used for isotope analyses were collected using an Agassiz trawl, whereas all other samples were collected using a box corer.
