(DE000011) German Benthic Habitats and Communities Map - EUNIS (version 2022 and 2007) Classification

The dataset is based on a biotope map showing the distribution and classification of habitats in the German extended coastal area and the EEZ classified using the German national habitat classification system (Rote Liste der gefährdeten Biotoptypen Deutschlands - Finck et al. 2017). The assignment of habitats was based on best available data on sediment information, biological zones (EMODnet 2023) and benthic community modelling.

The German national habitat classification system were translated in the EUNIS classification 2022 level 3. Where only MSFD data was available these were translated into EUNIS classification 2007. See lineage for further details. See lineage for further details.
