16S metabarcoding data from Rimicaris exoculata and chacei symbionts for each juvenile stage
Symbiosis has not been characterized so far for juvenile stages od Rimicaris chacei and Rimicaris exoculata. Questions related with the transmission and acquisition of the symbionts thus remain to be addressed: 1) Are symbiont lineages present from the earliest settlement stage and how do they distribute along the host life cycle? 2) Is recruitment a key moment of acquisition? 3) Can we see correlations between symbiotic development and population dynamics of each host shrimp? To answer these questions, we used metabarcoding to identify the presence of symbiont lineages in the different juvenile stages of R. chacei and R. exoculata from TAG and Snake Pit in all symbiotic organs.
