Porsmilin beach profiles
Beach profiling using RTK-GNSS (survey method: 'GPS') is one of the most convenient methods for conducting frequent beach resurveys. Profile surveys have been (approx.) weekly for the first year, fortnightly between January 2004 and June 2005, and near-monthly thereafter, with occasional gaps in the data due to equipment misfunctioning and maintenance. Trimble 5700/5800 and Topcon HiPer V GNSS systems were used for data acquisition. Since 2022, these surveys have been supplemented by the Centipède GNSS system (https://map.centipede-rtk.org/), which uses the GNSS base station installed at IUEM.
GNSS profiles are complemented by profiles extracted from topographic Digital Elevation Models (see 'Topographic DEMs'), thereby increasing the temporal frequency of the surveys.
