16S and 18S ribosomal RNA gene sequences of bacterial and eukaryotic communities from soft-bottom marine sediments collected along an organic enrichment gradient beneath a tropical finfish farm (Robert Bay, Martinique)
Organic enrichment from marine aquaculture is a well-established driver of benthic ecosystem degradation. However, the sensitivity of biological indicators and the ecological thresholds at which these changes occur have been characterised primarily in temperate systems and remain poorly understood in tropical environments. This work aims to assess how induced-aquaculture organic enrichment gradient structures benthic biological compartments in tropical regions and whether ecological thresholds and benthic responses patterns are consistent across these biological levels.
